JOHNSON, Sarah (Sally) (Mac Cormick)

-

Born August 28, 1923 to Allan and Racheal Mac Cormick (Mac Donald), French Road, Mira, Sally passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on October 23, 2018.

She is survived by her children, Allan (Linda), Mary (Bob), Donelda, Linda (Rick) and Michael (Lisa); 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and her loving sister, Mary Jane MacMullin, Sydney.

Besides her parents, Sally was predeceased by her husband, Roddie Johnson, (formerly of Christmas Island); a son, Ricky; and three close siblings, Marg Williams, Catherine Mac Dougall, Sydney River, and her brother, Dan Joe Mac Cormick, Ontario.

Sally proudly served in the Canadian Army for four years during WW2. For the past 70 years, she resided in Richmond Hill, Ontario, where her and Roddie raised their family. She worked and cared for the Sisters of Loretta Abby for 25 years. Her strengths were many, but her humour and story telling were prominent until the very end of her life.

Sally will be remembered fondly as a generous, humorous and devoted mother, grandmother, and aunt to many nieces and nephews across the country. In particular, she will be greatly missed by her niece, co- worker, and best friend to the end, Racheal Bartosik (Mac Dougall), Thornhill, Ontario. Their Sunday visits over many years involved a wee bit of wine and many laughs as they reminisced about work, family and life. Sally was progressive in her views and influenced many in her life. The love for all her family, and how she maintained close relationships with extended family throughout her life is a testament of her character and why “all” her family adored her. Sally ‘s spirit will live in all of her Cape Breton and Ontario connections. Burial arrangements directed by the Marshall Funeral Home, Richmond Hill, Ontario.
