Authors go on tour
Boularderie Island Press takes its writers on the road
Four books, four authors, three cities, three days.
That’s the synopsis of an upcoming book tour that Boularderie Island Press will be taking through Ontario in early November with four of its writers.
Sally Barnes, T.E. (Tim) Wilson, Bill Conall and Mona Knight will present readings and launch their books in Peterborough, Kingston and Cobourg, Thursday to Saturday. While Barnes is from Kingston and Wilson is from Peterborough, Conall and Knight were both born in Ontario but now reside in Cape Breton.
The first evening on the tour will take place in Kingston on Thursday from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at the Tett Centre for Creativity and Learning. Kingston writer Sally Barnes will read from her latest novel “Unleashed” which was published
last autumn. “Unleashed” follows a group of loyal dog owners who discover that their favourite dog park in Toronto may be sold due to the politics of some unscrupulous city planners.
The second evening will
occur in Cobourg on Friday, 7:30-9:30 p.m., at the Loft Cinema. Cobourg is a familiar spot for Conall who lived there for 10 years. Conall received the Stephen Leacock Medal for Humour for an earlier work but will read from his most recent work of short fiction, “Some Days Run Long.” Mona Knight, who grew up in nearby Orillia, is the author of the “Fortune Saga” novels, a series of westerns that includes “Banjo Flats,” which was published last year.
The final night of the book tour will be in Peterborough on Saturday, 7:30-10:30 p.m., at the Theatre on King.
Peterborough writer T.E. (Tim) Wilson will read from his just published “Wild Dogs of Mexico,” the second book in his Detective Sánchez novel series. The first book in the series, Mezcalero was published last year.
OUTtv announced earlier this year that the Detective Sánchez novels will be developed into a television series. Set in and around the sunburnt landscape of Mazatlan, Mexico, the serialized one-hour drama series follows Ernesto Sánchez, a transgender Mexican-Canadian private detective.
