Cape North residents may soon have a solution to their water woes.

Victoria County CAO Leanne MacEachen said during a meeting in July, municipal representatives discussed the proposal of adding a line into the existing Dingwall water supply.

cost associated with it for the municipality, the province and for the residents,” MacEachen said.

“That didn’t go over all that well, so based on that we decided to do a survey and go around to the residents that would be in the catchment area if we did a water extension.”

MacEachen said the survey offered three options for residents of approximately 70 properties located within a 1.5-kilometre catchment area.

Options presented to homeowners were: 1) having the waterline extended at what the municipality believes is a fair cost to them; 2) accepting a one-time loan for the update their own private systems; or 3) maintaining the status quo.

Victoria County representatives will present their findings at a meeting Friday at 6 p.m. at the Cultural Centre in Cape North.

The meeting will also discuss next steps for Cape North residents in addressing their water concerns.
