It is with great sadness that we, the family of Bert, announce his peaceful passing at home in Louisbourg on October 27, 2018. He was a son of the late Norman and Rose (Strickland) Day.

Bert was a kind and quiet man who was a commercial fisherman most of his life. He fished on both the Atlantic and Pacific coast. In his younger years he was an avid hunter and sportsman. In his later years he enjoyed his daily walks around town and the harbour watching the boats coming and going.

He is survived by his son, Dwayne (Glenda) Day; grandchild­ren, Erica and Ryley; brothers, Norman (Lillian) Day, Ernest (Phyllis) Day, Sam (Elizabeth) Day; sister, Laura Day, and sister-in-law, Marlene (John) Drolet. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, as well as close neighbours and friends.

Besides his parents, he is predecease­d by his wife, Dorothy (Fiander), and nephew, Jason Day.

A celebratio­n of Bert’s life will take place on Friday, November 2 at 6 p.m. at S.W. Chant and Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. Rev. Sheldon Chant to officiate. Reception to follow.
