With heartfelt sadness, we the family announce the passing of Thelma Piccott, age 89, our beloved grandmothe­r, great-grandmothe­r, greatgreat­grandmothe­r, sister and aunt on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at the Northside Community Guest Home.

Born in LaPoile, NL on April 9, 1929, Thelma was the daughter of the late Albert and Elsie (Bond) Read. She was a member of the North Sydney Senior Citizens and Pensioners Club. Thelma was a faithful member of the ACW and Altar Guild at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney.

Thelma is survived by her two grandchild­ren, George (Marlene) Taylor, Louisbourg; Susanne (Robert) Horwood, Port Aux Basques; her son-in-law, James Taylor, Port Aux Basques; her four great-grandchild­ren; Robert Jr. (Jennifer) Horwood, Kayla (Gerard) Neil, Cory Taylor, James Taylor; three great-greatgrand­children, Claire Horwood, Reagan and Maddie Neil; also her two sisters, Lorraine Anderson and Geraldine (Jack) Harvey, both of Port Aux Basques; nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Thelma was predecease­d by her husband, George; her daughter Marilyn Taylor; her sisters, Clara, Gertrude and Mildred and her brother, Max.

Sincere thank you to the staff at the Northside Community Guest Home for the excellent care given to Thelma during her time there.

Visitation for Thelma will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church with Rev. Julio Martin officiatin­g. Burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
