BEC, Cape Breton Highlands to host NSSAF provincial tournaments this weekend
SYDNEY — A pair of Cape Breton high schools will play host to the Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation provincial soccer championships this weekend.
The Breton Education Centre Bears will host the Division 2 boys provincials at Veterans Memorial Turf in New Waterford. Joining the host Bears in the tournament are École du Carrefour of Dartmouth, École secondaire de Par-en-Bas of Tusket, and Middleton Regional High School.
The tournament will begin today at noon with Carrefour playing Par-en-Bas, followed by BEC and Middleton at 2:30 p.m.
The bronze medal game will be Saturday at 10 a.m., followed by the championship game at noon. Cape Breton Highlands Education Centre/Academy will host the Division 3 girls’ provincial championship in Margaree Harbour. Along with Cape Breton Highlanders, Sacred Heart School of Halifax, Oxford High School and Annapolis West Education Centre of Annapolis Royal will also participate.
Action begins today with Cape Breton Highlands playing Sacred Heart at noon, while Annapolis West and Oxford will meet at 2:30 p.m.
The bronze game is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday, followed by the championship match at noon. The Breton Education Centre Bears Division 2 girls will also play in a provincial tournament this weekend in Canning, N.S., while Cape Breton Highlanders Division 3 boys will be in Eastern Passage for its provincial event.
