It is with saddened hearts that we, the family, announce the peaceful passing of Jean Ferguson, age 64, at the Glace Bay Hospital, Glace Bay on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 with her loving family by her side.

Born in Glace Bay, she was the youngest daughter of the late James and Dora (LeClair) Denny.

Jean recently retired from Pharmasave in Glace Bay, where she was employed for many years.

Mom was a kind and compassion­ate woman who was devoted to looking after her family. She loved all animals, with a special spot in her heart for dogs. Mom loved to walk, read, and spend time with her grandchild­ren. She was a great cook and enjoyed family gatherings. For several years she enjoyed travelling around the Maritimes with her husband, Jim, on his motorbike.

Jean is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Jim Ferguson; son, Shane (Kerri) Ferguson, Glace Bay; daughter, Erin (Greg) Arsenault, Sydney; four precious grandchild­ren, Stanley and Stephen Ferguson, Meredith and Levi Arsenault. She is also survived by her siblings, Jim (Diane) Denny, Brossard, David (Gina) Denny, Glace Bay, Michael Denny, Glace Bay, Louie Eddy, Vancouver; Arlette (Omar) Sloan, Hamilton, Lonnie (late Jim) Denis, Montreal, Mary Marilyn (Maurice) Laurin, Eastman, Gail (Mike) Meechan, Glace Bay, Rita (Jack) Hurst, Port Perry, Tillie (Bobby) Morrison, Glace Bay, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predecease­d by her sister, Ann Loggie and mother and father– in-law, Pauline and Jim Ferguson.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Monday, November 5, 2018 from 1-3 p.m. and the memorial service to follow at 3 p.m. with Father Patrick O’Neill officiatin­g all taking place at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialist­s, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Burial to follow in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Glace Bay. Donations in memory of Jean may be made to the S.P.C.A. or a charity of choice.
