Christmas in Baddeck

The Village of Baddeck is getting into the holiday spirit.

Magical Seaside Christmas events will begin Friday with a tree lighting and carolling at 5:30 p.m. at the visitor informatio­n centre.

An ugly Christmas sweater gathering will follow at 6:15 p.m. at the Freight Shed Bistro located on the Baddeck wharf.

On Saturday, the Ugly Sweater Reindeer Run (1.5 km, 3 km and 10 km) will begin its registrati­on at the Bras d’Or Yacht Club from 8:30-9 a.m.

During the hours of 10 a.m.-2 p.m., there will be both a craft fair at the Royal Canadian Legion branch 53 on Ross Street and a pop-up market at the Masonic Hall on Queen Street.

A chicken pot pie lunch and craft/bake sale will be held at Greenwood United Church on Twining Street from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

For the children, the movie “Elf” will be played at the Baddeck Library on Chebucto Street from 12-2 p.m., followed by a meetand-greet with Santa and Mrs. Claus at Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site until 4 p.m.

As part of the festivitie­s, there will be free face painting at Victoria County Creates from 2-5 p.m., along with a vendor market at Kidston Landing from 4-7 p.m.

A free family skate will be held at the Victoria Highland Civic Centre from 4-5:30 p.m.

At 6 p.m., the annual Christmas parade will begin at Baddeck Academy on Shore Road, followed by an adult dance with the Lynda Maxwell Band at the legion from 10 p.m.-2 a.m.
