Cape Breton boxers win at Fight Night in Reserve Mines

RESERVE MINES – Eight Cape Breton boxers picked up victories during Fight Night in Reserve Mines on Saturday. The event, hosted by the New Waterford Boxing Club, featured 14 fights, four of which were exhibition matches.

Cohen MacDonald of New Waterford won by unanimous decision over Hunter Naugle of Westville in the 110-pound division, while Rhys MacDonald won by unanimous decision over Jermiah Mosher in the 175-pound category.

Pedro Severiso of the New Waterford club defeated Tyler Young of the Membertou club by corner retirement in the 145-pound division, while in the 200-plus category, JD Pace of Ring 73 downed Art Jonson of Red Tribe Boxing in a unanimous decision. Aaron Christians­en of the New Waterford club defeated Habibullah Ibrahimi of Ontario by unanimous decision in the 150-pound division, and Brayden Collins downed Brayden Paul in the 115pound category.

In the 175-pound weight class, Ryan Bernard of New Waterford defeated Markus Kachafanas of Ring 73 by corner retirement, and Matthew Ross of New Waterford beat Tanner Grass of Ontario by unanimous decision.

Liam Dempster of Halifax defeated Kyle Woodword of Membertou by unanimous decision, while Jacob Thompson of Ontario knocked off Joshua Ross of New Waterford by way of split decision.

Fights between Brayden LeBlanc (New Waterford) and Matt Rouleau (Halifax), Tacari Howe (Halifax) and Noah Heffernan (Ring 73), Daniel Ellsworth (New Waterford) and Jeff MacAulay (New Waterford), and Sierra Eshouzacle­h (Halifax) and Sadie Allen (Halifax) were exhibition matches.
