BEATON, Mary Elaine

-

It is with aching hearts we say goodbye to our ‘Ma’, Mary Elaine Beaton, age 81.

Our mother was born in Glace Bay, NS, on April 22, 1937.

She is a daughter of the late Alex Jamieson and the late Martina (MacDonald) Jamieson.

First and foremost, she loved her family. She married her best friend and soulmate, the late, Donald Beaton. They had a profound and everlasting love that they instilled in their family. They raised their children to ensure they grew into caring adults who carried on their legacy of love for family, friends and their community. We are the children of an amazing mother.

She is survived by her children, Catherine (Doug MacMullin) of New Glasgow, Donald (Debbie) Beaton of Pleasant Valley, Debbie (Fred Walls) of Miramichi, NB, Derek (Vanessa) Beaton of New Glasgow and Rhonda (David Stepaniak) of Gardiner Mines. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren, Patti MacMullin, Courtnay (Elaine) MacMullin, John Beaton, Ashley Beaton and Tessa Stepaniak; as well as three greatgrandchildren, Hayden and Everleigh MacDonald and the newest member of our family, Lucie Ann Surette. She is also survived by sisters, Marilyn Boland (Tommy, deceased) of Kitchener, ON, and Marie (Dewey) Smith of Glace Bay, NS, as well as brothers, Cecil and Tommy of Glace Bay, NS.

She was predeceased by her husband, Donald; brothers, James (Phyllis), Raphael (Marie), Neil, aka Sonny; her sister, Yvonne (John MacLellan) and sister, Stella Maris in infancy.

Visitation will be held at Curry’s Funeral Home, Glace Bay, on Friday, December 14, 2018, at 1 p.m.

A service of Christian Burial will be led by Fr. Norman McPhee immediately following the visitation at 2 p.m. Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Passchendaele, at a later time. Family flowers only. Donations can be made to the Victoria Haven Comfort Fund where she was a resident for the past five years, or to the charity of your choosing.

Online condolences can be made to the Beaton Family at currysfuneralhome.com.

Victoria Haven does incredible work with their residents and makes family members feel included with their special family. Please do something kind for somebody in Ma’s memory.

God gave us memory so we may have roses in December.
