PRESTARA, Anthony Charles

-

Anthony Charles Prestara, 93, passed away peacefully in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow on May 17, 2019, after a brief illness.

Born in Whitney Pier, he was a son of the late Joseph and Muriel (Peterson) Prestara.

Tony resided in Sydney River for most of his adult life and would later retire to a lake house in Blackett’s Lake to enjoy nature which was dear to his heart. Dad had relocated to New Glasgow in 2017 to be near his daughter as his health had taken a decline.

Tony was predeceased by his wife, Amelia; a sister Carol Ann, a brother, Michael.

He is survived by daughter, Sharon(Brent Stone); brothers, Jimmy (Joan), Joey (Louise) a sister Mary Corazza; brothersin-law, John Rolls (Diane) Alex (Juanita); nieces, Shelly Cook and Mickey Purdy; nephews, Joe Prestara and Stephen Moore.

Tony worked for over fortyfive years for Modern City Dairy. When retirement called he enjoyed many wonderful fishing trips, tending a large vegetable garden and spending time on the deck with his cherished wife, Amelia. Dad and Mom always looked forward to the many road trips to New Glasgow to visit Sharon and Brent at Melmerby Beach.

Dad loved people and hearing about their everyday lives was of endless joy to him. He was gifted with the ability to connect with anyone who would stop and talk to him and we are grateful for all who took the time to share their stories.

A kind loving husband, father, brother and friend who was happiest helping anyone in need. He will forever be in our hearts.

There will be no visitation for the late Mr. Prestara.

A funeral service will be held at the T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, Sydney, NS on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at 1 p.m. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks, NS. Family flowers only please.
