CURTIS, Daniel ‘Danny’ Grand Mira North

-

It is with deep regret that the family of Daniel “Danny” Curtis announces his passing on Tuesday, January 14, 2020, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Danny was born November 3, 1946, in Sydney, and was the son of the late Leo and Kathleen (Brison/Brown) Curtis. His extensive experience as a heavy duty mechanic was widely known and respected in the industry. Danny’s talent for technical design and creation led him to construct vehicles and buildings from the ground up, including his own skidder and many other pieces of heavy equipment. Danny had an innate understanding of craftsmanship and technical ability. His varied interests and love of the outdoors allowed him to hone his talents in many areas including forestry, farming, and mechanics. His unwavering passion and dedication to craftsmanship allowed Danny to master many skills and leave a lasting legacy. He was always happy to offer his expertise or lend a helping hand to family and friends, and has often taken the time to pass on his skilful knowledge to younger members of his family. Danny also enjoyed history, visiting museums, and spending time with his beloved shared pet, Simba. He often discussed his travels and fondly reminisced about one of his most memorable trips to visit with his son and family in Alberta. Despite his many experiences, Danny will be most remembered for his kindness. He was an exceptionally loving, dedicated, and supportive person, and always made himself available to help when another was in need. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered for his kind heart, dry humour, and guiding advice. Danny is survived by his son, David (Janita), Edmonton, AB; grandchildren, Daniel, Matthew and Abbagail; stepsons, Ronnie Robertson (Paula), Westmount and their children, Jenna, Emma and Barrett and Jake Robertson (Alison), AB and their children, Colby, Rachael and Cody; sisters, Linda (Tony) Fougere, Enfield, Joan (Mick) MacNeil, Grand Mira North, Marilyn (Don) Feldman, Albert Bridge and Loretta Beck, Sydney; brothers, Chris (Margie) and George (Lorna), Grand Mira North; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Danny was predeceased by his sister, Anna Curtis-Steele. A celebration of life will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Saturday, January 18 from 4-7 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Parkinson’s Foundation Atlantic or a charity of your choice.
