Beryl was born in Glace Bay to her late parents Henry and Rachel “Tootsie” Macdonald. Beloved wife of Stewart Macdonald and loving mother of Valerie Macdonald (Lewis Hinks) & Paul Macdonald. Beryl and Stewart moved a number of times during his career with the Air Force, making homes in Cold Lake, Alberta, and in France, Germany and Summerside. Beryl enjoyed her career as a reporter and editor at Journal Pioneer, and the friendships she made during her time there. She maintained close connections with a long list of friends and family members; they will miss their regular phone chats. Beryl will be remembered for her ability to eat an enormous “feed” of lobsters and her love of Dean Martin. Many will also recall that she was an excellent seamstress who made lovely clothes for family and friends, and her fondness for taking young visitors for adventures at Rainbow Valley. She loved to brag about her grandson, Ian. She loved to travel (despite having no sense of direction) and truly enjoyed trying new foods. If you wish, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of PEI or Sjogren’s Society of Canada. Thanks to Dr. Lauren Murphy and to Pierce Smith, RN, from Prince County Hospital ICU.
