Wondering what to do with kids on a rainy day?

April showers might bring May flowers, but here in Atlantic Canada, May seems to have its own plans … not to mention rain.
Here are a few spring crafts the kids can do on a rainy day. POPCORN CHERRY BLOSSOM TREE
Cherry blossom trees are some of the most beautiful sights to be seen in spring, so why not make one of your own? For this craft, all you’ll need is some construction paper, a marker, paintbrush, glue, popcorn, and pink paint.
First, toss your popcorn in the microwave so it has enough time to cool down before you need it. While your popcorn is cooking, draw a tree with big empty branches on your construction paper.
When your popcorn is ready and cooled, take your paintbrush and dab the popcorn pieces with pink paint. It’s okay to leave a little white — cherry blossoms come in lots of different shades of white and pink.
Once your paint has dried, spread some glue across your tree branches and begin sticking the popcorn pieces on. You can add as many or as few pieces as you’d like to create your own special tree. TOILET PAPER ROLL BUGS
If trees aren’t your thing, maybe you’d like to make a toilet paper roll bug instead. For this craft, you’ll need empty toilet paper rolls, construction paper, scissors, glue, and any fun decorations you can find around the house.
First, decide what your creature will look like. Will it have stripes like a bee, or dots like a ladybug? Maybe it will be a brand-new bug that has never been seen before. Let your imagination run wild.
Decorate the roll which will become the body of your bug and then ask for an adult’s help to cut out some wings and glue them to either side. Have fun drawing eyes and other details to bring your little bug to life. You could even add pipe cleaners for antennae. Many bugs love rainy days, so they’ll be happy you brought them to life just in time.
Still feeling creative? Try picking out some rocks and paint beautiful pictures on them. Then, on the next sunny day, you can place them around your neighbourhood and make others smile.
