Three Northside residents facing charges
SYDNEY — Three Northside residents were in provincial court Tuesday to face numerous drug-related charges after a vehicle stop by the Cape Breton Regional Police on Friday.
Joshua Todd Donovan, 28, of North Sydney, is charged with possession of cocaine and two breaches; Raymond Trevor MacKeigan, 23, of Florence, is charged with possession of cocaine and two breaches; and Lurlene Alice Dominix, 37, of North Sydney, is charged with possession of cocaine and four breaches.
During a routine patrol, a Cape Breton Regional Police officer observed a vehicle with an out-of-province licence plate parked on Victoria Road. The vehicle matched the description of a vehicle police had attempted to stop the previous night for traffic offences. The officer activated emergency lights, stopped the vehicle and upon approaching, the officer observed evidence of alcohol and drugs.
The officer found two of the occupants to be in breach of current court-ordered conditions. The officer called for backup and placed the two under arrest. Upon a further search of the vehicle, officers say they located a bag of cocaine, prescription drugs and other drug-related paraphernalia. As a result the third occupant was in breach of court-ordered conditions and also arrested.
Officers also issued summary offence tickets to all three for failing to social distance under the Health Protection Act, which is a fine of $1,000 each.
All three were remanded to the Cape Breton Correctional Centre pending their court appearances late Tuesday.
