-

We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of Wilfred Joseph Googoo of Wagmatcook, First Nation, NS at age 70, on June 1, 2020 at Victoria County Memorial Hospital. Born in Baddeck NS, he was the son of the late Peter and Helen (Pierro) Googoo. He was a member of the Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha church. Wilfred loved his family and would be the first to lend a helping hand. He spent his time teaching his children, grandchildren and anyone willing to learn something new. He held many jobs working for NADACA, Stora and Wagmatcook Band as a carpenter and river clean up. He was an avid fan of sports and loved to cheer on his team at Wagmatcook Summer Games. In his younger years he played ball and hockey which his children also enjoyed as they later played the same sports. Even during his illness with cancer and heart issues he taught his family to be strong. Many people commented how tough he was and what a good man he was. Wilfred is survived by his wife of 45 years, Doris and five children, Wilfred Jr (Lynn Lafford), Lynn A Googoo, Glen R, April R Googoo and Jeffrey J; four brothers, Charles, Vincent, Peter Daniel (Karen ) and Richard Patrick; four sisters, Eunice Peck, Florence Marion Googoo (Wayne Macdougall), Frances Geraldine Googoo and Mary Christine Googoo (Kenny Harrison); three grandchildren, Lauren K Googoo, Nicole L Googoo and Scott Suilian Googoo; and several nieces, nephews, God children and cousins.
