GALLANT, Cyril William
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our amazing father and grandfather, Cyril William Gallant, 78, of Glace Bay on June 7, 2020 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with his daughters by his side. Born in Reserve Mines, N.S., he was the son of the late Alex and Annie Mae (MacNeil) Gallant and was a member of St Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines. He was employed with the Cape Breton Development Corporation for 35 years. Dad’s greatest enjoyment was spending time with his daughters (best Girl Dad ever!), granddaughter and grandson. Dad loved both playing and watching sports, especially if it involved his Toronto teams. Cyril was extremely community oriented, always helping others in need, whether it was carpentry, or electrical jobs. He was a lifetime member of the Glace Bay Seniors and Pensioners Club, and his greatest passion in later years was playing 45’s and Cribbage. His love of the game provided him the opportunity to play cards several times a week, at many different locations. While playing cards, he was introduced to new people and developed lasting friendships with many. Cyril is survived by daughters, Leah, Michelle (Joe Morrison), June (Steve Bredy) and Corri; granddaughter, Mackenzie and grandson, Rowan. He is also survived by brother, Earl and nephew, Blair Mac Neil. Cyril was predeceased by his wife, Helen (Cathcart ); infant daughter, Norma; as well as siblings, Jimmy, Sheldon, Verna, Margaret, Olive, Bernice and Delores. A special thank you to the Physicians and staff at the ICU/ED and 4A of the CBRH, who demonstrated such incredible care and compassion for our father during this time. Due to Covid-19 restrictions a funeral mass and celebration of Dad’s life will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Glace Bay Seniors and Pensioners Club. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. 902-849-4199.
