YARMOUTH — Five months after Web.com announced it would be ceasing its operations at its Yarmouth County location comes word that the Canadian-based company Millennium1 Solutions will be setting up shop in the facility with the hiring of workers already getting underway.

The new Yarmouth contact centre will create 100 job opportunities immediately, with potential expansion to more than 300 over time, the Canadian-based company says. It is beginning to hire some staff from the area who worked at Web.com and there will be more job opportunities for people as time goes on, including bilingual customer service jobs, leadership and support positions. Employment start dates will be around early July for senior leadership and corporate support positions and mid-July for customer service positions.

The announcement of a new operator for the facility came on June 11 via media releases from the province and the company.

“We chose Yarmouth because of the exceptional reputation of the local workforce, solid infrastructure, the positive support and partnership from the Municipality of the District of Yarmouth and the continued leadership of the Nova Scotia government,” says Tom Band, CEO at Millennium1 Solutions. “COVID-19 has devastated local economies and we are facing record numbers of unemployment in Canada. This opportunity makes good business sense for us and can have a significant impact on many people in this community. We can't wait to open our doors.”

Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI) is negotiating a performance-based payroll rebate agreement with Millennium1 Solutions. The company will be eligible for training incentives through the Department of Labour and Advanced Education's workplace innovation productivity skills incentive. The new company will take over the Web.com facility at 62 Rcom Drive in the Hebron Business Park. There will be new technology and changes to the physical infrastructure prior to its grand opening.

The Municipality of the District of Yarmouth is the owner of the property and has signed a lease with the company. The municipality is investing $2 million towards capital upgrades required at the site.

Millennium says it is committed to continuity of employment for many of the Web.com employees and to work with the Web.com to enable a positive transition. There were 198 employees working at Web. com when the announcement was made in December that it would be ceasing operations in Yarmouth in the coming months.

The new company says interested job seekers are invited to visit its website for company information and to apply online at millennium1solutions.com/careers. English and bilingual customer service jobs as well as leadership and support department roles are available. The website will be updated regularly with new job postings. Applicants can also submit resumes via e-mail at careers@millennium1solutions.com.

Millennium1 Solutions is a Canadian firm with 40 years of experience providing customer support and services to the financial, loyalty, insurance, government, retail and health sciences sectors. It is headquartered in Toronto, but has facilities in other parts of the county, including one in Bridgewater where it is said there are around 200-plus employees. As for how the company is different from Web. com, Millennium1 Solutions works for other companies and its staff provides these clients with services, as well as customer support to those companies' customers. Web. com, which is headquartered in Florida, does website design, marketing, and customer support to its own customers.
