Langlois recognized by Hockey Canada

SYDNEY — A Cape Breton Eagles player was recognized by Hockey Canada with an invitation to attend the men's national summer under-18 team selection camp.

Defenceman Jérémy Langlois was one of 46 players named to the selection camp roster. The players were set to compete for a chance to represent Canada at the 2020 Hlinka Gretzky Cup in August, which has since been cancelled due to COVID-19.

In total, six goaltender­s, 14 defenceman and 26 forwards were set to participat­e in the camp.

Langlois, a Quebec City product, appeared in 50 games with Cape Breton last season, recording seven assists, 18 penalty minutes and a +9 rating.

The 16-year-old also played for Team Canada Black at the 2019 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Medicine Hat, Alta. and Swift Current, Sask., last November.

Other QMJHL players recognized by Hockey Canada for the selection camp include Jacob Goobie (Charlottet­own), Olivier Boutin (Gatineau), Oscar Plandowski (Charlottet­own), Cameron Whynot (Halifax), Zachary Bolduc (Rimouski), Zachary Dean (Gatineau), Nathan Gaucher (Quebec), Cole Hackins (AcadieBath­urst), Zachary L'Heureux (Halifax), James Malatesta (Quebec), Olivier Nadeau (Shawinigan), Justin Robidas (Val-d'Or), and Joshua Roy (Saint John).

Acadie-Bathurst's Riley Kidney, brother of Cape Breton Eagles forward Liam Kidney, was also invited to attend the camp. Other QMJHL property invited were Peter Reynolds (Saint Johh), Dovar Tinling (Shawinigan), Guillaume Richard (Saint John) and Evan Nause (Quebec).
