It is with profound sadness that we, the family of Ann Carmelina (MacLellan) Coleman, announce her passing on June 14, 2020. Ann passed away peacefully at home with family by her side after a brief illness. Born in New Waterford, she was raised by her maternal grandparen­ts Mr. and Mrs. Dan Allen MacLellan. Ann was a graduate of Nova Scotia Normal College and Sir George Williams University. A devoted educator, Ann taught students in Halifax, Glace Bay, Montreal, and Ft. McMurray for many years. She was later employed as a Heritage Interpreta­tion Specialist with Parks Canada for the remainder of her career. A member of the Old Sydney Society and Louisbourg Volunteers Associatio­n, she enjoyed her work as a volunteer upon her retirement. Ann was a devotee of the arts and spent many hours working with theatrical groups in her younger years. Ann is survived by her husband of 63 years, Thomas Ronald Coleman, Ben Eoin; daughters, Kelly Coleman, Calgary, Alberta, and Rhonda McIntosh (Jodi), Cochrane, Alberta; daughter-inlaw, April (Flor) Coleman and beloved grandson, Ryan Coleman, San Diego, California. Also surviving, are her sisters, Margie, Toronto, Joan and Diane, Montreal; brothers, Louie, Lingan, Scott, Halifax and Alex, Sydney. Ann also has a large extended family including many cousins, nieces and great nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predecease­d by her only son, Sean Coleman; brothers, John Allan, Danny, Michael, Robert, Carl, Peter, William; and her sisters, Rosemarie, Sandra and Kathleen. Special thanks to the nursing staff on Floor 3A at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, family physician Dr. Susan MacLeod, the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON), The Canadian Red Cross (Sydney), first responders with Emergency Health Services, and Sgt. Best and Officer Glen Ford of the Cape Breton Regional Police Force for their assistance to the family. Cremation has taken place and arrangemen­ts are under the direction of MacLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Avenue, New Waterford, 902-862-7500.
