MARTELL, Shauna Lee

-

It is with the deepest sadness in our hearts that we say goodbye to an amazing daughter, wife, mother, nanny and friend. Born in Sydney on April 18, 1961, Shauna is the daughter of Emmett and the late Sheila O’Callaghan (Carrol). Shauna passed away peacefully on June 18, 2020 after a short battle with cancer. Shauna was a strong-willed, stubborn and loving soul who always welcomed friends and family into her home with open arms. She loved spending time with her family and friends and taking yearly trips South. Shauna had the gift of gab, and some may say that she was paid by the word. She was a hard-working woman who spent 30 years with Maritime Telephone, Bell Aliant and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. More than anything, Shauna loved spending time with and spoiling her grandchildren. Shauna is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Terry; sons, TJ (Melanie) and Brendon (Janell); grandchildren, Liam, Sofia and Sidney; and brothers, Emmett (D’Anne) and Brian (Paula). Mom left us with a lifetime of memories and lessons that will never be forgot. How lucky were we to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard. Until we meet again. A special thanks is extended to the nursing staff at the Palliative care unit, V.O.N, Dr. Jim MacKillop, Dr. Peter Poulos and Dr. Ron MacCormick for their dedication, professionalism and compassion during her sickness. As per Shauna’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held in St. Theresa’s Church at a later date. Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Palliative Care society of Cape Breton or the Cancer Centre of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Words of comfort can be sent to the family at www.sydneymemorialchapel.ca or e-mail sydneymemorialchapel@ns.sympatico.ca.
