MORRISON, Gerald “Gerry” (Bear) Reserve Mines

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Gerald “Gerry” (Bear) Morrison, age 57 on June 19, 2020 at his residence. Born in Glace Bay, Gerry was the son of the late Gerry and Viola (Kulessa) Morrison. He grew up in Bridgeport and learned constructi­on from his dad and brother Johnny, owners of Baywood Constructi­on and then later for Family Windows and Doors. Gerry also enjoyed driving the bus for Carabin’s Bus Co. and meeting people from around the world. In his spare time, Gerry loved to ride his motorcycle and was proud to ride with his fellow Chain Runners Club. He loved his rides, stopping for his coffee at Tim’s and clowning around with his buddies. Gerry was a true family man. He was married to the love of his life, Valerie (Musial) for 33 years and he was best friends with his son, Evan. They went almost everywhere together. He also loved their cat, Sandy. Along with Valerie and Evan, Gerry is survived by his brother, Johnny (Denise); sisters, Laura Morrison, Michelle (Wayne) Mauger; mother-in-law, Hazel Musial and sister-in-law, Toni McNeil. He will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predecease­d by his maternal grandparen­ts, Florence and Art McKinnon; paternal grandparen­ts, Elizabeth (Lizzy) and Johnny Morrison; father-in-law, Connie Musial and brother-inlaw, Walter McNeil. Cremation has taken place, there will be no visitation. A PRIVATE family service and burial will be held under the direction of V. J. McGillivra­y Funeral Home, Cremation & Reception Center, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Centre through the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation.
