Tender issued for new Sydney fire hall build

-

SYDNEY — Companies interested in working on Sydney’s new downtown fire station have just under two weeks to respond to a 932-page tender recently put out by the province.

The new fire hall, which will be constructed on the southwest corner of George and Pitt streets, will replace the still-in-use Esplanade station that is scheduled to be razed to allow for the building of the new Nova Scotia Community College campus on the Sydney waterfront.

A geotechnical investigation report was conducted by SM Walker Consulting Ltd. in early March and is included in the tender document.

CBRM council approved the new location in February as part of the complex process of relocating existing businesses and services prior to the construction of the new $18-million campus.

The tender’s deadline is July 23.
