TAYLOR, Charles Angus North Sydney

It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we the family announce the passing of Charlie Taylor, age 77, beloved husband, father, poppy, brother, uncle and friend, on Friday July 10, 2020 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, with his wife and sons at his side. Born in North Sydney, March 23, 1943, Charlie was the son of the late Thomas and Margaret (Keagan) Taylor. Charlie’s working career began in his early twenties as an asphalt inspector, first at Warnock Hersey, followed by Geocon Atlantic, SNC-Lavalin and Jacques Whitford from where he retired in 2016. Charlie is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ina (MacDougall) Taylor; his sons Paul (Danielle) and Mark (Bonnie); granddaughters Annika, Olivia, Emily and Addison; grandsons Aiden and Liam. Poppy was very proud of his six grandchildren. He was a loving brother to Tommy (Pauline) Taylor, Margaret Rose Taylor, Ann Marie (BJ) Gillis, David Taylor, Violet (Wylie) Humby, and Blair (Patsy) Taylor; brother-in-law to Lawrence (Audrey) MacDougall, Sarah (David) MacDougall, Venita (David) Reardon, Evelyn (Reg) Furmidge, Marion (Gary) Hart. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and will be remembered fondly by his dear friends from Branch # 8 and Branch # 19 Legions. Besides his parents Charlie was predeceased by a daughter in infancy, also by his good friend of many years Ronnie Allison. Charlie was a man of great integrity and had an unconditional love for his family. “Family First” was his motto. At this time the family owes a debt of gratitude to his cousin Billy Taylor and his wife Karen for their love, support, and friendship over the past number of years, especially during the last few months of his illness. He considered Billy as a brother of the finest kind. A special thanks to Dr. R. McCormick, Dr. John Kirkpatrick and Dr. Alexander Wawer. Thanks to the VON and palliative care for their kindness and compassion. To say goodbye to Charlie has been very difficult but there is consolation in knowing that he is at peace with loved ones especially his mother. By request there will be no visitation. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines at a later date. Memorial donations may be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of choice.
