We regret to announce the passing of Carrie Abbass on August 10, 2020 at Harbour View Hospital, Sydney Mines, DVA Unit. Carrie was born on April 17, 1932 to Joseph and Shaffica Abbass. She is survived by her twin, Thelma Bourque and her family; Stephen, Keith and Kelly, all of Ottawa, ON.; sister, Marlene Webber, Howie Centre; niece, Judith Thomey and her family Kevin, Jordan and Alyssa, Howie Centre; sister, Sr. Lorraine Abbass CND, Sydney, who lived with her. Carrie would not have been able to stay in her home if it were not for the care of Sister Lorraine. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins and her special furry friend Lola. Besides her parents, she was predecease­d by her brother, George; sisters, Theresa Mlinac and Edna Abbass and nephew, Graham Abbass. Special thank you to Judith for all her love, care and compassion. Also, special thanks to our dear friends Dr. Anne Frances D’Intino and her family and Dr. Yolanda D’Intino; our adopted sisters who were always by her side. We would like to thank her dear friends, Olga and Linda and all the friends who called Carrie during her illness. We would like to express our thanks to Dr. Greg Myatt and Janice and also all the staff of Harbour View Hospital, Sydney Mines, DVA Unit for the special care they provided to Carrie. If a person were judged by the many acts of kindness, they would be considered priceless. Carrie was priceless. At her request, cremation has taken place. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church, Cabot St., Sydney at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 17 with Fr. Bill Burke officiatin­g.
