COVID-19 causes havoc on Cape Breton sports schedules
SYDNEY — A second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic is impacting all four Atlantic provinces and causing cancellations for Cape Breton’s elite level sports teams as a result
New restrictions are in place in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador, meaning island sports schedules will feel the effects until at least Dec. 10.
Here is a list of all cancelled/ postponed sporting events between Nov. 26 and Dec. 10 involving Cape Breton clubs.
Quebec Major Junior Hockey League:
• Nov. 27 – Charlottetown Islanders @ Cape Breton Eagles – Sydney
• Nov. 29 – Moncton Wildcats @ Cape Breton Eagles – Sydney
Note: The QMJHL has not officially postponed games that see Cape Breton playing Saint John (Dec. 3 in Saint John), Acadie-Bathurst (Dec. 4 and Dec. 5 in Bathurst, N.B.) and Halifax (Dec. 9 in Halifax). Official word is expected soon.

The Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation volleyball provincials, scheduled for Nov. 28 and Dec. 5, have been postponed. The organization is hopeful to reschedule these events at a later date.
