REARDON, Venita (MacDOUGALL) Sydney Mines

It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Venita Reardon on November 27, 2020, surrounded by her loving family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Sydney Mines on March 4, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Alex and Dorothy MacDougall. Venita is survived by her loving husband, David; children, David (Leah), Michelle (Harry) and Alex (Trina); grandchild­ren, (Kyle, Tyler, Katelyn, Sarah, Kelsey Taylor, Julia, Amber, Trent and Grace) and six greatgrand­children. She is also survived by her siblings, Ina Taylor, Sarah MacDougall (David), Evelyn Furmidge (Reg), Lawrence MacDougall (Audrey) and Marion Hart (Gary) and inlaws, Blaine, Victor (Valerie), and Vernon and many nieces & nephews. Venita was employed by various businesses on the Northside where she was well known by many for her pleasant personalit­y and cheerful wit. As a mother of three she was the rock of the family. She treasured her time with the grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren who thought the world of her. The family has many beautiful memories of Sunday dinners, card games and time well spent together. Venita was the go to person for family history and everyone knew better than to challenge her. She had lots of wonderful stories that the family all enjoyed. A special thankyou to her family doctor, Dr. Beth McCormick, her oncologist, Dr. Ron McCormick and the staff at the Cancer Unit. Many thanks to Palliative Care (esp.Holly), VON, and Home Care who all went above & beyond. Besides her parents she was predecease­d by her son in infancy; her sister in infancy; her in-laws: Bill & Pearl Reardon, Charlie Taylor, Wilson Reardon(Debbie), Elma Reardon. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church Sydney Mines, with Fr.
