BARRON, Barry Trumaine Ingonish Beach

-

It is with profound sadness that we share with you the heartbreaking news of Barry’s passing. Peacefully in his 71st year at Buchanan Memorial Hospital, Neil’s Harbour, on Tuesday, December 1, 2020. Born in Ingonish on August 5, 1949 he was the son of the late Sylvester and Ruby (Dupe) Barron. Barry was the beloved husband of 50 years to Linda (Doucette). He was loved and cherished by his son, Eugene (Bonnie) Ingonish; daughter, Tanya (John) Cordy, NB and his pride and joy granddaughters Jaden and Miya. Barry was also the much-loved brother of Patsy Whitty (Adrian), David Barron (Darlene), Toronto, Teresita Demeyere (Jim), Bernadette Macdonald (Dave), George Barron (Shirley), Ruby Ann Barron (Larry), Melinda Barron (Jim). Special brother in law to Bruce Doucette (Annette), Philip Doucette (Venus) and Glen. Uncle Barry will be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews as well as his many close cousins in Sydney who always made the time to attend family gatherings and his close coffee buddies, he treasured your friendship. Besides his parents Barry was predeceased by father and motherin-law Joe and Dot (Hawley) Doucette. Barry was an avid outdoorsman, he could be found hunting in Iona with the Macdonald’s, who were like family, fishing off the point with his buddy Gordon or golfing Highlands Links with his brothers and brother in laws every summer. Barry loved playing cards with family and friends, as long as he was winning, haha. But his true passion was playing one of his many guitars for all family gatherings and house parties. Barry’s career extended from an early entry into the Canadian Armed Forces, delivery driver for Esso and 30 plus years in various positions at the Keltic Lodge. Barry was a proud legion member of Branch 105 Ingonish for 18 years where he was recently past President and First Vice. Volunteer Fireman for 29 years and past Fire Chief for the Ingonish Volunteer Fire Department, he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Barry will be remembered for his keen sense of humour, teasing Linda, and pulling off the odd prank. More than anything Barry will be fondly remembered for his huge heart and unconditional love for his family. He was a kind and compassionate man who spent selfless years volunteering for his community. Words can never express how very much we love you, to say we miss you is an understatement. You left a void in our hearts that can never be filled. Until we meet again….keep strumming your guitar bud. Special thank you to Dr. Bernie Buffet, all the nursing staff of BMH as well as the entire Home Care team, Dr. John Ritter, and Dr. David Brake. Your kind and gentle care for Barry will never be forgotten. As per Barry’s request, cremation has taken place with a celebration of Barry’s life at a later date. Arrangements are under the care and direction of JM Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main Street, Sydney Mines. Words of comfort can be expressed at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com.
