MCNEIL, Vivian Shirley “Ginny” Glace Bay

It is with great sadness that the family of Vivian Shirley “Ginny” McNeil, age 82, announce her passing on Friday, December 4, 2020 at the Glace Bay Hospital. Vivian was a native of Glace Bay and well known for her community volunteer work. She spent many years volunteeri­ng at Glace Bay Townhouse, St. Anne’s Church and with AVTEC and Scouts Canada. She loved her summer home in Mira Gut, where she spent every summer since she was very young. Vivian will be forever remembered by her 5 children, Brenda (Hecky), Joan (Roland), Ron (Jeanne), Derrick (Eunice), Stephen (Tammy); 15 grandchild­ren, 15 great-grandchild­ren; brothers, Hubby (Vina), Brian, Barry (Karen) and her sisters, Irene and Linda (Blayne). Vivian was predecease­d by her husband, Ronnie; her parents, Percy & Vivian (Wood)Brewer; brother, George and her sister, Beryl Milley. Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, December 9th from 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivra­y Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. The Celebratio­n of Life (Funeral Mass) will take place at a later date in St. Anne’s Church, Glace Bay. We, the family, would like to thank the staff of 3rd Floor East of the Glace Bay General Hospital, VON, New Waterford Homecare, Dr. Mark Ellecker and Dr. Guy for their attention and care they provided for our mother.
