Four new COVID cases

-

The number of new daily COVID-19 cases continues to drop in Nova Scotia.

Four were reported Thursday, including one connected to Tallahassee Community School, a pre-primary to Grade 3 school in Eastern Passage.

The person was not in school today and is self-isolating, the Health Department said in a news release.

"The school will close to allow for deep cleaning, testing and contact tracing, and is expected to reopen to students on Wednesday, Dec. 16.

Families will receive an update on Tuesday, Dec. 15."

There are two other cases in the central health zone ( Halifax- West Hants- Eastern Shore). One is a close contact of a previously reported case and one is under investigation.

The fourth case is in the eastern zone and is related to travel outside Atlantic Canada.

SIXTH SINGLE- DIGIT DAY

"Today marks the sixth consecutive day where our case numbers are below 10," said Dr. Robert Strang, Nova Scotia's chief medical officer of health, in the release. "Just because our case numbers are low does not mean we can become complacent. I am urging Nova Scotians to continue to follow all the public health measures."

The number of active cases also dropped by seven cases compared to yesterday to 64.

"Seeing lower case numbers is good news, but it does not mean we can let our guard down," said Premier Stephen McNeil. "We know how fast this virus can move. We have worked so hard to contain it - let's not falter as we get closer to the vaccine being available. We need to continue to be kind to one another, support one another and recognize that when we follow public health protocols, we are actually protecting each other."

The premier and Strang will hold a news briefing Friday at noon. It will be live- streamed at https:// novascotia. ca/ stayinformed/ webcast/.

The province continues to hold COVID- 19 pop- up rapid testing clinics. One will be held at the Lebrun Centre in Bedford and at the Colchester Legion Stadium at 14 Lorne St. in Truro, both from 1: 30 p. m. to 8 p. m. The Truro popup will be held again tomorrow at the same times, the Health Department said.

Nova Scotia will report rapid- testing pop- up numbers each week starting Friday.

Nova Scotia Health Authority's labs completed 1,788 Nova Scotia tests on Wednesday.

Since Oct. 1, Nova Scotia has completed 81,706 tests. There have been 304 positive COVID- 19 cases, 240 resolved cases and no deaths. No one is in hospital.
