BUNIN, Eric Paul

-

It is with profound sadness that we share the sudden passing of Eric Paul Bunin on December 16, 2020. He was born on April 3, 1947 in Brooklyn, New York to Leo and Sylvia Bunin. Ric was the owner/manager of Eric’s Engine Shop on Keltic Drive in Sydney. A hard-working entrepreneur for more than 45 years, he took great pride in treating his customers with fairness and kindness. He was a member of the CBRM Baha’i Community and had been instrumental in forming the first Cape Breton County Baha’i Spiritual Assembly in 1973. He was elected to serve for many years on that Assembly, often filling the role of Treasurer. Ric was a loving and affectionate husband, father and grandfather, wanting to give everything for the happiness of his family. A gentle, caring soul, he had a good sense of humour, often graciously allowing himself to be the butt of family jokes. He was a humble man, never looking to put himself above anyone else. A sports fan, he particularly enjoyed following baseball and basketball, especially when his children performed. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kathleen; his children, Adam (Lisa), Judah (Parissa), Ariel Borden (Brian), Michael (Lindsey) and Ben (Corrie) and his 11 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Barry and Phil. Besides his family, Ric loved music, particularly Van Morrison, and even attended the famous Woodstock concert with Kathleen and Adam in 1969. A private funeral will be held.
