ACHIEVEMENTS
- Won the Maritime Junior Baseball Championship in 1971 and 1975 as a player
- Began coaching Glace Bay Little League baseball in 1979
- Served as an executive member and board member at Glace Bay Little League for more than 25 years
- Served on tournament boards for the 1988 and 1998 Canadian Little League
- Managed/coached the Glace Bay Colonels to Canadian Major Little League Championships in 1987, 1988, 1991, 1994 and 2003, advancing to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa.
- Led the Colonels to silver medals at the Canadian championship in 1982, 1992, 1995, 1998 and 2008
- Led the Colonels to the Canadian Little League semifinals in 1984, 1989, 1996, 2013 and 2015
- Managed the Colonels to 19 Maritime championships and 24 Nova Scotia championships between 1982 and 2015
- Coaching record features 218 wins and 93 losses with a .701-win percentage.
- Managed the Cape Breton Dodgers at the Canadian Big League Championship, winning titles in 2009 and 2010
AWARDS
- Inducted into the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame as a builder in November 2019
- Inducted into the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame with the 1987 and 1988 Glace Bay Colonels in the team category —they’re also inducted into the Cape Breton Sport Heritage Hall of Fame in 2004
- Inducted into the Cape Breton Sport Hall of Fame as a builder in 2012
- Retired from the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board as a teacher in 2012 and was awarded the Golden Apple Award for outstanding lifetime dedication to youth in the community
- Shared coach of the year award at the Cape Breton Sport Hall of Fame ceremony in 2003
- Received a community sport hero award at the 2000 Investors Group Sport Celebration Day
- Received the Commemorative Medal for the 125th anniversary of the Confederation of Canada in 1992
- Named Nova Scotia volunteer of the year in the sport of baseball in 1988
- Received the Carl Anthony (Campy) Award in recognition of outstanding achievement in leadership and commitment to justice, fairness, volunteerism, sportsmanship and equality in the community.
