BOUTILIER, Henry John Wallace Jr. Glace Bay

Henry John Wallace Boutilier Jr., born August 28, 1953, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 19,2020 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of Joyce (Parsons) Boutilier and the late Henry Boutilier Sr. He is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia (Fletcher) Boutilier of 48 years; daughters, Michelle (Robert Sealey), Mary Elizabeth ( Johnny Gazzola) and their son, Noel Henry, Grampy’s pride and joy; and furbabies, Bellatrix and Luna. Henry was a well- educated man whose career spanned as a teacher, guidance councilor, vice principal and principal. He also refereed and coached minor hockey. His passion, though, has always been baseball. He was a coach/manager with Glace Bay Little League for over 40 years doing what he loved best. He was on the field every day practicing with kids in all aspects of the game. He put Glace Bay on the map with the Colonels, winning five Canadian titles and countless regional and provincial titles. He also spent four years in senior ball with the Cape Breton Dodgers, winning two Canadian titles at that level. He leaves behind five amazing sisters, Gail (Robert Shepherd), Barbara Jean (Billy Gillis), Anita (Lewis Boutilier), Winnie (the late Gerald MacNeil), April ( Kenny Ferguson); brother, Darryl (Heather MacDonald); sister-in-law, Colleen; the Fletcher family, Everett (Shirley), Jimmy ( Ann Marie), Danny ( Judy) and Kathy; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, godchildre­n and friends. Henry was predecease­d by his daughter, Lynda; brother, Edison, and his beloved dog, Hunter. Cremation has taken place. A Walk Through Visitation will be held on December 23, Wednesday afternoon only from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in V.J. McGillivra­y Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. A private family service will take place in the funeral home chapel at a later date with Fred Courtney presiding. Interment to follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Cancer Patient Care Fund, the Salvation Army or the Glace Bay Little League.
