Potential exposures on flights to Sydney

SYDNEY — Nova Scotia Public Health is advising of potential COVID-19 exposures on three flights destined for Cape Breton.

The potential exposure flights include Air Canada Flight 8374 from Fort Mcmurray (9:47 a.m.) to Calgary (11:14 a.m.) as well as Air Canada Flight 146 from Calgary (1:45 p.m.) to Toronto (7:25 p.m.), both on Dec. 23.

The third flight identified is Air Canada Flight 8210 from Toronto (8:55 p.m.) to Sydney (12:15 p.m.) on Dec. 24.

A Public Health statement issue on Friday indicated anyone seated between rows 13-19 in seats A, B and C from Fort Mcmurray to Calgary may have been exposed to the virus.

Meanwhile, passengers in rows 19-25 from Calgary to Toronto may also have had exposure to COVID-19.

As for the flight from Toronto to Sydney, anyone seated in rows 19-25 in seats A, B and C may be at risk of exposure to the virus.

Anyone who was on the flights in the specified rows and seats is asked to continue to self-isolate for the 14 days required and to immediatel­y visit covid-self-assessment. novascotia.ca/en to book a COVID-19 test, regardless of whether or not you have COVID-19 symptoms.

Public Health says people may develop COVID-19 symptoms up to and including Jan. 6.

Earlier this month, public health advised of a possible COVID-19 exposure on Air Canada Flight 8210 from Toronto to Sydney on Dec. 9, landing in Cape Breton on Dec. 10.

Meanwhile, the same plane, Air Canada Flight 8210 was also noted for potential COVID-19 exposure on Dec. 4 from Toronto to Sydney.

Currently, anyone travelling to Nova Scotia from outside of the Atlantic provinces is expected to self-isolate alone for 14 days after arriving. If a person travelling for non-essential reasons enters Nova Scotia from outside Atlantic Canada, then everyone in the home where they are self-isolating will have to self-isolate as well.
