On the beautiful morning of January 1st, Connie abdicated the surly bonds of earth for the beautiful joys of eternity. She was a proud Cape Bretoner, born in Sydney, Nova Scotia. She was the daughter of Ernest and Catherine Boutilier. Connie is survived by her husband of 66 years, James (Mick); children, Maureen (Barry Lively), James, Kenny, Eileen (Rob) and her 3 grandchildren, Caitlyn, Justin and Brandon (Michelle Pittman) Young. She was predeceased by her youngest son, Patrick. Connie was a graduate of Holy Angels High School. She went on to pursue her studies at Mount St. Bernard College and St. Francis Xavier University. In addition to raising a family of 5, Connie held many teaching positions with her last one being at the University College of Cape Breton. An avid outdoors enthusiast, she enjoyed spending time at the family country, summer home in Bras d’Or where she loved hiking along the beach. Connie was a devout Catholic with a very strong faith and an even stronger personality and a heart of gold. The family would like to thank the Palliative Care team and the V.O.N. in Sydney, NS and the Irene Thomas Hospice in Delta, B.C. for their excellent care and compassion. Her happiness is now complete, having been reunited with her sister, Phyllis, whom she missed dearly. Cremation has taken place and a private, family mass will be held at a later date. As she was fond of all animals, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any animal charity.
