Warrants issued for pair of accused

-

SYDNEY — Two New Brunswick residents charged in connection with the attempted abduction of a child in Cape Breton are now subject to arrest warrants.

Charged are William Cameron Boyd, 46, of Fredericton, and Kelsey Diane Ellis, 24, of Geary.

The incident occurred Oct. 20, 2020 in Glace Bay when two people are alleged to have entered a Glace Bay home, assaulted the occupants and attempted to remove a child.

Ellis is charged with two counts of assault and single counts of abduction, unlawfully being in a dwelling, and possession of stolen property (a vehicle).

Boyd is charged with abduction, assault with a weapon (mace), and possession of stolen property (a vehicle).

The two were previously released on conditions that included returning to Sydney for a court appearance.

The first warrant was issued in January for Boyd after he failed to attend court to enter pleas.

The warrant for Ellis was issued Tuesday after her father notified Sydney court officials that his daughter failed to return home in advance of her curfew and that he no longer has any idea where she is residing.

Tim Ellis posted bail for his daughter and is responsible to ensure she abides by all the conditions of her release. Should she not adhere to the conditions, it is her father's responsibility to alert police or risk losing all or part of the $2,000 he posted for bail.

Another condition of release for the pair is not to have any contact with each other.
