MCLEAN, Thomas William “Tom” Glace Bay

-

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tom Mclean, age 65 on Wednesday, January 13th, 2021 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Sydney. Born in Glace Bay, Tom was the son of Genevieve (Attwood) Mclean and the late Tom Mclean. Tom was an electrician by trade and was employed for over 37 years with Lynk Electric, he also did some work out West in his latter years. He enjoyed playing his guitar, travelling to the Dominican Republic with his sister, Louise and her husband, Ronnie Mcneil, camping out at Catalone and having a good drink of Crown Royal with the boys at the Sgt.’s Mess, Glace Bay. Tom had a great sense of humour and was always the life of the party. He was a very compassionate man and as the old saying goes, “He would give you the shirt off of his back if you were in need”. But mostly, Tom will be remembered for the great love he had for his children, grandchildren and family. He is survived by his wife, Faye (Billard) Mclean; two daughters, Melanie (Justin) Green, Lacey (Calvin); five sisters, Liz, Louise, Anne, Clara (David) and Jen. Also surviving are his five grandchildren, Zoe, Brooklyn, Ashton, Dominic, Jeremy; nieces, nephews, his best friend, Bernie Steel and his fur baby, Sasha. Besides his father, Tom was predeceased by his son, Sgt. Ryan Mclean and his granddaughter, Ceilidh Edwards. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 18, 2021 at 10 a.m. in St. Anne’s Church, Glace Bay with Fr. Duaine Devereaux officiating. Cremation to follow with interment at a later date. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the VON and the Palliative Care Unit at the CBRH, Sydney. Memorial donations in memory of Tom may be made to your local SPCA, Palliative Care Unit (CBRH) or the Nova Scotia Lung Association.
