It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the peaceful passing of John (Stephen)

Shewchuck on Monday, January 25, 2021, age 70, at Taigh Na Mara. Born July 7, 1950 in Glace Bay, Stephen was the son of the late Marg and Steve Shewchuck. Stephen was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfathe­r, uncle and friend. He loved to hunt, drive his motorcycle­s, old cars and enjoyed time with his nieces and nephews and especially the light of his life, his grandson Nathan. Stephen was employed with Devco Railroad for 28 years and last employed with Jims Fuels. Stephen is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Ruth (White) Shewchuck; loving daughter, Stephanie (Hughie) Whalen; loving grandson, Nathan, Glace Bay; loving sisters, Jean Marie (Marcel) Pettipas, Glace Bay, Ruth (Earl) King, Birch Grove and Kathy (Richard) Latour, River Ryan. Also left to mourn are brothers-in-law, David (Shirley) White, Allen (Shelley) White, Glace Bay, Todd (Jennifer) White, Sydney Mines, Bruce (Sherry) White, Ontario; sisterin-law, Patsy (Frank) MacNeil, Tower Road and several nieces and nephews. Stephen was predecease­d by his parents, many aunts and uncles, special uncle Met, sister-in-law, Brenda (White) O’Neil and brother-inlaw, John O’Neil. Special thanks to management and staff of 4 North, Glace Bay General Hospital and Taigh Na Mara, Glace Bay. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Patten Funeral Home, Glace Bay. As per Stephen’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services. Online condolence­s may be made to the family at www.pattenfune­ral.com.
