WALL, Albert Lawrence ‘Pat’

-

It is with broken hearts we, the family, of Albert Lawrence ‘Pat’ Wall announce his passing on May 9, 2021 at Harbourstone Enhanced Care with family at his side. Pat was the son of William Patrick and Mary Bridget (O’Toole) Wall. He was born and raised in his family home on Victoria Road. He married his sweetheart Geraldine Elizabeth (Burt) and they were lucky to have 35 years together raising a family. They valued kindness and instilled in their children a deep-rooted sense of taking care of one another that has been passed down through generations. Dad worked as an electrician at Sydney Steel for 40 years, retiring shortly after Gerry’s untimely passing. Dad leaves behind his loving wife, Joan Elizabeth, of 35 wonderful years. Together they enjoyed traveling, many social events, and surrounding themselves with their families to whom they were so devoted. Dad had a love for sports and leisure, with a competitive nature to round it off. He enjoyed bowling, playing baseball, watching the Cape Breton Oilers hockey games, and cheering on his beloved Leaf’s at home. Then there was Tarabish, his holy grail, the people he played with were like family. Dad played cards at the Steelworker’s and Sydney Pensioner’s club where he served as President for 18 years and supported and brought awareness to the Atlantic Burn Camp and Braemore Home. He was inducted into the Cape Breton Horseman’s Hall of Fame; he was an avid horseman, harness racer, and Presiding Judge. Dad faced a battle with dementia as so many others do, but through this he maintained his usual wit, grace, and kind nature. His family on Steelworkers Lane embraced him as their own and took such great care of him and for that we will be forever grateful. A true gentleman and a very proud husband, father, and grandfather, Pat is survived by his wife, Joan Elizabeth (Myers); his children, Betty, Larry (Val), Patricia (Glen), Jim, Stella, Mary (John); his stepsons, Shaun (Trisha), Faron, Paul (Coleen), and daughterin-law, Marilyn. He was blessed with 25 grandchildren who were somehow all “his favorite” and 32 greatgrandchildren. Pat was predeceased by his loving wife, Geraldine Elizabeth (Burt); his sons, Roddy, Joe, and John, and his daughter, Sharon in infancy. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Due to covid, friends and family may only attend the Funeral Service virtually by joining the livestream on TW Curry’s Facebook page on Friday, May 14 starting at 11 a.m. Interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.twcurry.com. If desired, donations in Pat's memory may be made to either the Alzheimer Association or the Cape Breton Hospital Foundation.
