PENNEY, Edward Roderick “Ed”

Age 85, of Middle Sackville, formerly of Sydney, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024, in the QEII Health Sciences Centre – Infirmary Site, Halifax. Born February 15, 1939, Ed was the only child of the late Edward and Delia (Perrier) Penney. Prior to enjoying his retirement, Ed was employed by Sydney Steel and after retirement, he enjoyed the outdoors where he was an avid fisher and hunter. He especially enjoyed spending time with his wife of 58 years, Carol. Ed and Carol enjoyed traveling with their 5th wheel travel trailer and together, they enjoyed countless trips across Canada and the United States. Ed will be fondly remembered by his friends and family for his on-point humour and mischievou­s smile. He was known for his kind heart, unwavering devotion to his family and his passion for life. Ed will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Ed was the beloved husband of Carol (Walker) and proud father of Jennifer Penney (Alex), as well as grampie to his grand dogs, Lola, Bentley, Ryker and Belle. He leaves them to mourn along with sisters-in-law, Cathy Walker and Sharon Adams (Murray); as well as nieces, Kimberly Doyle ( Matthew) and Chantelle Walker (Mike); nephew, Glenn Adams (Kelly). Besides his parents, Ed was predecease­d by brother-in-law, Kevin Walker (Cathy); best dog, Kaleigh and grand dog, Seamus. Arrangemen­ts for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). A Celebratio­n of Ed’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in memory of Ed be made to Relinquish­ed Souls Animal Rescue Society, 138 John Black Rd., Amherst, NS B4H 3Y3 (902-614-0007) or a charity of choice.
