When Love Comes to Town

-

February marks my 11th year at Azure Publishing, and my 10th year as the editor of Designlines. It’s been quite a tenure, but there are still days when I feel like a newbie, time speeds up and I’m super excited to get in the door to tackle the job at hand. And when I get to do everything from score a studio visit to take a feature story from first draft to final layout – well, to a design junkie like me, 11 years is really nothing at all.

Plus, there’s the perk of the all-star issue. Every year, this unicorn edition is packed, from page one, with designers operating at full tilt; 2020’s Designer of the Year issue is just the latest one. First, there’s the overall winner, Superkül, which delivers greatness at every turn. Also gracing this edition are the nominated best designers of public spaces, restaurants and products: LGA Architectural Partners, Omar Gandhi and Studio Paolo Ferrari, respectively. Not to be outdone, Giannone Petricone, Solid Design Creative, Stacklab, Public Studio and Brian Rideout impress with their recent work. And that’s just a short list of the notable designers inside.

Meanwhile, the job continues outside. As we have done every January since 2012, we’ll be hitting up as many Designto events and exhibits as possible (we’re kids in a candy shop this time of year). Racing across the city, we’ll be doling out our sweet

Designlines Loves tags – but only to the best products, art, installations and other creative, innovative stuff we come across. Our adventures and finds will be constantly updated on our site, as well as on social media. We would also love to hear what excites you, fellow design junkies, so share your favourites on Instagram or Twitter using #Dlloves2020. See you out there!
