Music to My Ears

The Island Hopper Songwriters fest takes place on Captiva Island, which is attached to Sanibel by the Blind Pass bridge. The festival was in full swing when we arrived. There were amazing entertaining songwriters, such as Even Stevens that wrote “I Love a Rainy Night” sung by Eddie Rabbitt, “Love Will Turn You Around” performed by Kenny Rogers, as well as songs for Dolly Parton, Blake Shelton, Martina McBride, and has the distinction of being BMI “Songwriter of the Century”. There was a very entertaining performance by James Slater who wrote

“Mexicana” for Tim McGraw, which he performed with a guitarist and a fake piano. The Voice, winner of season 8, Sawyer Fredericks showed us why he won the contest.

My time in Fort Myers and Sanibel Island was amazing. Lovely weather, long walks on white sandy beaches, shells collected, delicious food, great lodging, birds galore and ended with a wonderful boat ride around the Islands to really appreciate the beauty of the area. We even spotted some dolphins.
