Monday, April 7: Edmonton actor/playwright Chris Craddock introduces his second book, Public Speaking and Other Plays (NeWest Press), a collection containing the monologues Public Speaking, Porn Star and Moving Along, all of which premièred in Edmonton. Tavern on Whyte (10507 Whyte Ave.), 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 8: Canmore author Michael Wuitchik reads from his new novel, My World Is Not My Own, at Audreys Books, 10702 Jasper Ave. at 7 p.m. The novel is a story of love, courage and resilience told through the voice of Mariama, a nurse in Sierra Leone. Wednesday, April 9: Celebrity gossip blogger Elaine Lui, the voice behind Lainey Gossip, will speak about her new book, To The Squawking Chicken — When a Mother Knows Best, What’s a Daughter to Do? A Memoir (Sort of), at Chapters Southpoint at 7 p.m. Free event. Saturday, April 12: Launch for Douglas Roche’s Peacemakers: How People Around the World Are Building a World Free of War, 2:30 to 4 p.m. at Audreys Books. In his new book, former Canadian ambassador and senator Roche shows how hardheaded but idealistic people around the globe are working to rid the world of war. Sunday, April 13: Award-winning children’s author Tololwa Mollel launches his new book, From the Lands of the Night, at Audreys Books at 2 p.m. His previous books include Orphan Boy, Rhinos for Lunch and Big Boy, and My Rows and Piles of Coins.

Established in 1982, The Alberta League Encouraging Storytelling is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to promoting the oral tradition of storytelling.
