MasterChef Junior

-

It’s semifinal time in the new episode Junior Edition: Head of the Class, and the four young chefs left in the competition apply their talents to creating a soufflé. The winner of that round is in a good position for the next test, centred on making a dish involving pork. The judges — including host Gordon Ramsay, as well as Graham Elliot and Christina Tosi — then decide who remains in the contest for the finals. (Fox, CTV)

LOST AND FOUND MUSIC STUDIOS

Following up on his highly successful tween series The Next Step, Frank Van Keeken has created this musical spinoff which follows a group of musicians who are part of a unique after-school music program run by musician-turned-producer Mr. T (Michael Torontow). The tweens write songs, form bands and record tracks in hopes of turning their passion into a profession, and each year a select few will go on a live tour. Tonight’s new episode is titled Heart & Soul. (Family)

MOVIE: SUDDENLY

An assassin (Dominic Purcell), and his team pose as Secret Service agents to seize control of a war widow’s (Erin Karpluk, Being Erica), house, from which they plan to kill the U.S. president (Chris Shields), by sniper fire, during his visit to the small town of Suddenly, Wash. Their ruse seems to fool most of the local police officers, with the sole exception of Deputy Todd Shaw (Ray Liotta), a washed-up, alcoholic former war hero. Michael Paré and Brad Kelly also star in this 2013 thriller. (Showcase)

MOVIE: MAGIC MIKE

It could be deemed the gender flip side of Showgirls, but director Steven Soderbergh’s effective 2012 drama about male strippers has a lot more going for it — particularly its basis in the actual experiences of star Channing Tatum. Here, he plays mentor to someone just entering the trade (Alex Pettyfer), and there’s plentiful bumping and grinding. And less-than-plentiful clothing. Matthew McConaughey, Matt Bomer (White Collar), and Joe Manganiello co-star. (W)

LAST MAN STANDING

Certain candidates in the 2016 presidential race make the repeat episode Ping-pong appropriately timed, as Vanessa (Nancy Travis), tries to enhance Eve’s (Kaitlyn Dever), awareness of what it would mean to have a woman in the Oval Office. Startled by Ed’s (Hector Elizondo), revelation of being long-estranged from his daughter, Mike (Tim Allen), tries to fortify his own connection to Mandy (Molly Ephraim). (ABC)
