STERLING OFFERS SERVICE AND SATISFACTION

Sometimes getting into a home you love is a matter of a little bit of luck.

Spruce Grove residents Brenda and Todd Reashore are happily settled in their Sterling Homes Belvedere ‘B’ in the neighbourhood of Springate at Spruce Ridge, and it’s all thanks to a decision to go for a walk one day.

The couple had been looking for a pond lot for two decades, Todd said, and on that fateful walk two years ago, they happened upon lots with ‘for sale’ signs on them.

They high-tailed it to the showhome, “expecting to be told, ‘no, they’re all gone,’” Todd said, but were surprised to learn the lots had just hit the market.

“So we ran home, got a cheque and put down a deposit,” he said.

The Reashores ended up in a Sterling Homes home somewhat by accident, as the lot they chose was a Sterling Homes lot, but they have had absolutely no complaints.

In fact, it has proven to be the best thing to happen to them with all the great service they received from Sterling Homes from the first meeting through to the after-sale care they continue to receive.

With years of experience buying homes under their belts, the Reashores knew what they were looking for in their new home, and Sterling Homes’ area sales manager Graham Salmon was up to the task of helping the couple’s dreams be realized.

Sterling Homes may not be a custom builder, but Graham worked hard sketching out the Reashores’ requests and adjusting things to make the home just right – moving walls and rooms to different places, raising the ceilings, etc.

“Needless to say, he was doing a lot of cutting and pasting and drawing by hand in order to get a lot of revisions to get a final product we were happy with,” Todd said. “For being a non-custom built builder, the sky was almost the limit.”

Living so close to their new home — the Reashores’ previous home was only about a 10-minute walk away — meant they were able to check in on the progress of their new home regularly. They got four official walkthroughs during construction, plus another three unofficial tours.

The biggest benefit of that proximity and myriad walkthroughs was Todd was able to take photos of all the walls and learn exactly where all the wires, pipes and ducts were located.

Construction on the home took a bit longer than would have been perfect, but it was a minor tradeoff with improved quality being the payoff, explained Brenda.

“Sometimes it may take a little longer to get something done because their trades guys might be elsewhere, but the thing is these guys have worked for them for a long time so they know who these guys are,” she said. “They know the quality of their work.”

That quality of work also extends to how Sterling Homes and its trades people worked with the Reashores once the home was completed.

“After-sale service was great,” Brenda said, citing one example of a flaw with the quartz countertop in the kitchen. Sterling Homes said if the flaw could not be repaired, the entire countertop would be replaced with no hesitation.

Todd said he was somewhat skeptical there would be no pushback when push came to shove, but Sterling Homes kept its word and the countertop was replaced as promised.

When it comes to endorsements, they’re like photographs – a picture’s worth a thousand words. The Reashores’ daughter has a friend who is looking at buying a house with her fiancé.

“They saw our house and they are going with a Sterling,” Brenda said.
