Passenger on dirt bike killed in crash

A dirt bike passenger was killed in a collision with a pickup at Maskwacis, south of Edmonton, on Sunday morning.

Maskwacis RCMP and Emergency Medical Services — responding to the Highway 611 call about 4:20 a.m. — pronounced the rider dead at the scene on the east side of Samson Cree First Nation, about 100 km south of Edmonton.

The woman driving the dirt bike was taken to Edmonton hospital by STARS air ambulance. She was in stable condition Sunday. The pickup’s male driver was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police were notifying next of kin.
