The natural look is good for Edmonton
Over the last few weeks there have been a number of letters on the pros and cons of naturalization in the river valley, major parks and along the boulevards.
My many walks in the river valley have led me to appreciate the city’s continued focus on keeping the river valley natural, which includes keeping the old and dying trees which provide food and homes to many birds and animals, and keeps the landscape interesting.
The city also has done a good job continuing upgrades to the trails and facilities in the river valley to allow reasonable access for walkers, runners, bikers and picnickers. Improvements to Buena Vista park were greatly appreciated, otherwise this rainy summer would have turned the trails into a muddy mess.
If anything, the city should increase the naturalization in the river valley and major parks. Money for mowed grass should go to sports fields and community gathering places where it is most needed. Gerhard Henkemans, Edmonton
