Man accused of mail theft in custody
Edmonton police believe they have a prolific mail thief in custody. William Geoffrey Schaffrick, 44, was arrested by officers Wednesday while he was fuelling up a truck at a gas station near 43 Avenue and 34 Street. Investigators have accused Schaffrick of breaking into mailboxes at a pair of condo complexes in southwest Edmonton repeatedly between Sept. 9 and 14. Police believe Schaffrick could also be connected to other thefts dating to 2015. Officers put out 28 warrants for Schaffrick related to break-andenter, theft of mail, possession of break-and-enter tools and possession of stolen property under $5,000 Sept. 16. Schaffrick is now facing new charges related to parkade break-and-enters, which occurred over the last month.
