WHO TO WATCH:

Oilers

LW Milan Lucic. He’s coming off the third hat trick of his career and has five goals in his last three games to give him 23 on the season and 48 points as he gets ready to play his hometown Canucks in Vancouver.

Canucks

C Bo Horvat. He’s the only Canucks player over 50 points and of his 51, 39 are from even-strength play as well as 15 of his 20 goals. On a team badly minus, he’s only a minus-5 and he’s winning 50.4 per cent of his faceoffs. He may not be a true No. 1 centre, but when Henrik Sedin retires, he’ll be their top pivot.

WHAT’S IN THE TANK:

Oilers

Full. They’ve won eight of their last 10.

Canucks

Empty. They’re now 29th in the NHL in points.

HOW THEY MATCH UP:

Forwards: Oilers — Four players with at least 23 goals, Canucks have one 20-goal scorer.

Defence: Oilers — Their top three — Oscar Klefbom, Andrej Sekera, Adam Larsson — better than anyone Canucks have.

Goaltending: Oilers — Cam Talbot has franchise record 41 wins.

Power play: Oilers — Edmonton is sixth with 54 goals, Vancouver 29th with 34. Penalty kill: Oilers — Canucks are third worst, Oilers middle of pack. Intangibles: Oilers — Edmonton needs a point against Canucks to clinch second spot in Pacific. Overall: Oilers — Deeper everywhere and they’ve got Connor McDavid.

INJURIES:

Oilers: None.

Canucks: Loui Eriksson (leg), Markus Granlund (wrist), Erik Gudbranson (wrist surgery), Derek Dorsett (neck surgery), Joe Cramarossa (foot) Jacob Markstrom (knee surgery).

WORTH NOTING:

Canucks’ right-winger Brock Boeser, 20, who left North Dakota to sign after they were eliminated in the NCAA playoffs, has three goals in seven games. He was a college linemate of Oilers rookie Drake Caggiula … The remarkably healthy Oilers have had seven players — McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Patrick Maroon, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Jordan Eberle, Lucic and Klefbom — play all 80 games. Only the Sedins and Luca Sbisa have played 80 for the injury riddled Canucks … The Canucks are in the running for second-best odds at the draft lottery, so they presumably get a shot at Brandon Wheat Kings centre Nolan Patrick, the top prospect on the scouts’ board. Vancouver is now 29th, one point back of New Jersey and Arizona with Colorado 30th … The Sedins are starting to show their age. Neither Henrik (48) nor Daniel (42) look like they’ll hit 50 points … Vancouver’s used 34 skaters this season with all their medical problems.
