MELANIA IN THE WHITE HOUSE.
1 MOVING DAY
After nearly five months of living apart, President Donald Trump’s wife, Melania, announced Sunday that she and the couple’s young son have moved into the executive mansion at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Mother and son broke with tradition by living at Trump Tower in New York since the inauguration so that Barron, now 11, could finish the school year uninterrupted.
2 THE NEWS CAME IN A TWEET
“Looking forward to the memories we’ll make in our new home! #Movingday,” the first lady tweeted Sunday evening after she and Barron arrived at the White House with Trump. The tweet accompanied a photo of the Washington Monument as seen from the White House Red Room. Her spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, confirmed the move on Twitter. “It’s official! @FLOTUS & Barron have made the move to DC! #WelcomeHome,” Grisham tweeted.
3 BARRON’S TRANSFER
Barron finished the school year at Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. He will transfer to the private St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Maryland in September.
4 FROM VISITOR TO RESIDENT
Melania has scarcely been seen at the White House since Trump’s presidency began. While she has joined him to receive foreign leaders and their spouses, April’s Easter Egg Roll, which she co-hosted, was arguably her most high-profile appearance since the inauguration.
5 MELANIA UNDER THE MICROSCOPE
Now that’s she’s at the White House full time, pressure will build for her to be seen more. She said during the campaign that she would work on the issue of cyberbullying as first lady, but she has made no further announcements about the subject.
